21.2.13

mobile

Recently they turned 17 and 14 ! I am so proud of them, having become such independent and nice people.
My 'new lap top' and mobile office during the Spring holiday, I like to stick around when they are home all day...

last 2 pictures were taken by a smart phone... I'd like to have one too.

Xmas 2012

It's hard to let go of the Christmas decorations and the corresponding feeling ....

Happy New Year everyone!
and Welcome 2013... that many great things may come !

new baby

We all - yes, even my husband :) - fell deeply in love with our toddler called TEUNTJE. She is 11 weeks old now. Even our old cat seems to have accepted her... I could not have been happier about that.

After a couple of days in an abandoned nest,  I took the Silent Egg out for investigation.
My curiosity is bigger than my horror.

When you look beyond Fear... you'll solely find Beauty.

holiday activities

do you see my daughter dancing in her gown?  :)

I never take much time to sew myself something new, but now I've managed to make me a sweet fluffy cotton summer dress out of a vintage duvet cover with red and (fluo) pink details.

My girls are already free from (secondary) school, so they are helping me out
.... doing last minute dinner shoppings and preparing meals....
"Would you buy a few cans of tomato paste?" They return with this + six which I've already in the pan :)
fresh biological beans

.... making fine and healthy fruit smoothies enjoyed in pyjamas in the morning sun

.... they're having a girlfriends camping in our jungle, which I thougth was a top experience when I was their age (well a bit younger), did you?

...and they both are on to the next grade so we rewarded them with a Wii Just Dance game, which my husband and I find very amusing too :)

soon

My WOL(k) cushions are for sale in the Walnut Mixstore since last May.

Annet de Vries's small Attention Cafe (Aandachtschenkerij) is opened soon! Read more on Annet's blog. I'm glad to help good friends with what I'm good at and like best: sewing (of course!), but also interior layout plans, decorating and colour advice. My experience in several architectural offices comes in handy.

And soon my own small shop online shall be opened as well!
But it seems there are always things that come first: a new project for Dutch magazine '101woonideeĂ«n" in which sweet fabric- and textile paint-webshop owners decided to cooperate,  a ++Plustwee participation in the Cultural Sunday in het Paleis on July 1, and not in the last place family matters.
So please be patient, I'll keep you posted.

robbed

This is my brother Wim Jongedijk, who is filmmaker, photographer, scenario writer and director; his camera and all materials were stolen last week. Already in financial trouble (crisis!),  now he is also robbed of the Opportunity to earn money. I feel so sorry for him. If you know any work suitable for him, anything, please let me/him know.

These pictures were taken at his last 'performance' /try out in the Grand Theatre in Groningen. Wim made a movie for the (great!) band Sexton Creeps, which is also going to be part of the programming in the next Noorderzon Festival.

I love you brother, keep the spirit up.

She's hurt

With fear in her voice her friend called me to say She had fallen of her bike and that a nasty looking wound was in her leg and an ambulance was already on its way. What horror went through my head in those minutes of rush before I arrived at the scene!
Five stiches were needed to close the wound... and she's doing reasonably well now.

While she amuses herself with modern equipment during the day, I tend to crochet something like between a shawl and a stole to finish all the pieces of wool I've been saving.

midwinter light therapy
We had such a wonderful holiday in Rødvig, Danmark.
What I enjoyed most was the connection with my girls, without the disturbing intervention of computer and television; many games were played and we created the paper garlands and cup cakes for Eva's birthday. And we celebrated New Year with Dutch friends who stayed in a house very near by.
The weather was frighting some days, but the fire inside was so delightful...

Happy New Year!

friends, collegues and mothers

Annet, one of my colleagues, gave birth to a beautiful boy! Marjolein and I visited the newborn and brand new first time mother.
Megan also brought a lovely boy into this world recently, but I fotgot to take out my camera, so no pictures of that beauty.
Afterwards Marjolein and me spended some time in her freshly transformed workspace at her house, and we spoke and discussed her woolen lampshades with which she'll have a
breakthrough in the media; she will be featured in magazine Happinez in January and she recently did a huge interview for Seasons magazine which will be out in March.
Pay attention to Marjolein Perin, she's a rising star!
